“SANDWICH — Former Yarmouth police Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos will be the 5th Barnstable District’s next state representative, beating James Dever in Tuesday’s election by 1,167 votes.

Xiarhos, a Republican from West Barnstable, will succeed state Rep. Randy Hunt, R-Sandwich, who decided not to run for a sixth term this year.”
