XIARHOS RELEASES TAX RETURNS PUBLICLY
Republican candidate for State Rep. promotes transparency and
accountability, challenges fellow candidates to follow his lead
August 12, 2020
BARNSTABLE – Steve Xiarhos, Republican candidate for State Representative in the Fifth Barnstable District, released copies of his 2019, 2018, and 2017 tax returns to the public today, and challenged other candidates in the race to follow suit.
“In this day and age, I think it is especially critical for candidates for public office to be completely transparent with those whom they hope to represent, and to be fully accountable to their constituents,” said Xiarhos. “As a candidate, I believe it is important for voters to have a full picture of who I am as a person. And, as someone who is not a career politician, an important part of knowing me is knowing how and where I’ve earned money. That’s why I am releasing my tax returns today.”
“I am proud of the forty-year career I had with the Town of Yarmouth before ending my work as Deputy Chief of Police in 2019,” continued Xiarhos. “I am also blessed to be a property owner in West Barnstable, where I make my home.”
Xiarhos further challenged the two other candidates running for the Fifth Barnstable District seat, Tom Keyes and Jim Dever, to release their 2017, 2018, and 2019 tax returns to the public. “Transparency is an important virtue for a political candidate, particularly on the local and regional level. I hope my fellow candidates will follow my lead in promoting full disclosure to the voters of the Fifth Barnstable District,” said Xiarhos. “I call on Tom Keyes and Jim Dever to release their tax information publicly as soon as possible to help the voters make an informed decision in this race.”
