Chapter 90 Road Funds

Not all money dedicated to the needs of cities and towns gets passed as part of the annual budget. Separately, I supported passage of a municipal road and bridge bill that authorized $375 million in state bond appropriations to help cities and towns maintain their local transportation infrastructure.

As a result of this bill, Barnstable will receive $1,981,746, Sandwich will receive $775,413, and Bourne will receive $599,698. This money (often referred to as “Chapter 90” funds) can be used for a variety of purposes, including road resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, traffic signalization, crosswalks, and street lighting. Other eligible construction projects include structural work on bridges, culverts, footbridges and pedestrian bridges, and retaining walls.
